Oregon nurses, including many wearing Nurses for Single Payer buttons, were in evidence at the Save Health Care Rally hosted by members of Oregon’s Congressional delegation in Portland on November 15, 2016. A surprising number of signs in support of single payer health care were in evidence in the gymnasium and outside in the overflow area. Below, see Lance Cook, an active member of NFSP and President of the Oregon Student Nurses Association, with Oregon Senator Ron Wyden at the rally. When Rep. Blumenauer gave a shout-out to the idea of considering single payer, the room erupted in applause. There were also two nurses on the dais with our members of Congress, Teri Mills and Travis Nelson, both of whom are strong single payer supporters.
